Koshka’s Journal #13
For a month the mist took as and played with us. Showing us terrors beyond imagining and flensing our souls. After its torture it deposited us back in New Midrath, much worse for wear. The only thing that this let Koshka know is that Alonzo’s plan would lead to death and damnation. Unfortunately this information is diametrically opposed to the stubborn Alonzo lover Kurt. His fraternization with that devil is leading us all to our dooms and Koshka fails to make the others see it. After arguing with his impassible stubbornness for hours all that could be agreed upon was that we should wait until Koshka’s item is available, but at least this would give her the time she needed.
Fate, the cruel mistress, brought her own plans to bare before Koshka could implement her own. That evening Koshka was overcome by her hunger and was forced to feast upon the shadow of Z, he wasn’t using it anyway. But as was inevitable, Z awoke and took the wrong impression from the scene. With his shrieks he awoke the rest of the group and as they mewled Koshka could not but hunger for more. She attempted to flee but through their incessant chatter she couldn’t, and Obeah-bokor was so near she could not help herself. She lept upon his shadow and began to consume it. Obeah actually defended this action to the surprise of everyone present. And while normally this procedure is painless, this instance stole his health and interfered with his spell casting abilities. This did not go over well with the group and they were less than understanding.
Koshka took this opportunity to gain the gift that Jack had once promised, she could not let this happen again. Unfortunately he was less than gracious in his gift giving and he offered it only with an ultimatum; we would be given only 1 month to bring him a dark lord or he would kill us all. As an additional disservice, we are not to be allowed into the library again. The rest of the party did not respond well to this news despite what it would do for party cohesion. They then rushed off foolishly to the library to confront Jack despite Koshka’s protest. When this inevitably ended in disaster they then tried to flee the country, which failed them. Only when performing Jack’s task became the only option did they agree to attempt it.
Toward this end, being unable to find our most likely candidate, Professor Doctor Alfred Hyde Staples, we decided to focus upon the Sensei Nettie Donnellan Perryman III. Koshka was able to ascertain that the flaw of the Sensei was her pride. In order to exploit this sin, we used her favored students to show her just how far from perfect she was. She had been training them with a fatal flaw in their technique which we made known to Charles Hickedy along with how to counter it. We then inflated his ego to the point that he went to challenge the Sensei and the inevitable occurred. The prideful Sensei was so upset by the challenge and needed to show her prowess that she used her planted flaw. When Charles countered her masterful stroke, she couldn’t believe it and tried again, only to be countered again. This enraged her to the point that she summoned a darkness into her palm and smote her student dead. And as is all too familiar to us, mist filled the room, bringing with it a new friend.
A creature that appeared equal parts white shadow and water and seemed to know Zaram. In fact it claimed to be his brother and the son of a demon prince from the abyss. What’s more is that he apparently ought to be dead by the very hands of Z. Z claims to want nothing of this life and has only attempted to run from it but Koshka is fairly comfortable not sleeping in the same room. The creature then assaulted us all a dark energy, forcing further darkness into our bones.
